A Tribute to the Salon Buzz Team

With the end of the year coming up, I want to thank everyone in the Salon Buzz team who has made 2011 a great year for me and the company.

A few years ago, I came across a quote by Proctor & Gamble CEO Richard R. Dupree: “If you take away our money, our buildings and our brands but leave us our people, we can rebuild the whole thing in less than a decade.” His words really resonated, and looking at my team, I can definitely say the same for myself.

My team has given me so much strength and support. As long as I have my team in tact, I feel like I can face a lot of things, especially in today’s world where there’s a lot of uncertainty for what’s to come. I haven’t been able to build this company with my vision alone. It takes a whole group of people to actually transform that vision into reality. And my team has done just that. They embraced my vision, trusted me and gave me the right to lead them and push them as far as I possibly can. In a hierarchy where leadership is at the top and support is at the bottom, if I push my team up to the ceiling, then they’ll push me above it. This way, we as a team are able to go above and beyond the expectations of what we were hoping to achieve. And I’m proud to say that we have definitely exceeded our expectations.

I’ve also received so much inspiration from my team, each and every day. There are so many forms of inspiring someone, not only creatively in the hair itself, but through who they are. They always bring up new ideas, whether it be for a photoshoot, hairstyle or an event that we’re going to do. But they also inspire me with their perspectives and with the relationships that they form with one another and with the clients.

Our team is diverse, with people from 19 years of age to the mid 60s and everything in between. And we’re a fairly large group, larger than the average salon in America. Everyone has a different perspective, and it’s inspiring to see all of us work together for a common goal. In the 27 years of my career, I’ve never ever seen so much closeness, care and love within my team. I’m thankful that we did the right hiring and put a team of people whom we thought could work together. They spend more time with us at the salon than they do with their family and loved ones, and I appreciate all of their hard work they’ve put forth.

The new year is just around the corner, my commitment is to work as hard I can and be as creative and innovative as I can in order for our company to continue being the best that we can be. With the help of my team, we can accomplish anything. For the past 13 years, it’s been a privilege to be around such committed people. Truly.
