Personal Style Part 2: Truth and Dare

(See Part 1.)

Being aware of your personal style shows a sense of empowerment.  Bolstering this confidence are the daring women who, on occasion, reveal their other side.

Here, for example, the woman above appears quite the different from the majority of her photos or her breakthrough role in the 1997 blockbuster Titanic. The movie career of Kate Winslet began with innocent characters including the lovelorn singleton in The Holiday and the sweet sister in Sense & Sensibility. This witty beauty has gradually revealed an unexpected side, as in recent interviews and character choices (Revolutionary Road and The Reader). Ms. Winslet’s alternate look portrays a mysterious demeanor by way of a few, simple details: outfitted in black, hair slicked back under a rim hat, and a single stroke of liquid eye liner.

Angelina Jolie’s characters almost never repeat the same look twice.  She herself has experimented with several looks that include variation in hair color, style, and texture.  The more unexpected the look, the greater the impact – as she is shown here with dark hair and blunt cut bangs, next to a wet, sleek, style.

Charlize Theron

Charlize Theron is an ever confident, natural beauty.  Her public appearances typically consist of a natural, sun-kissed palette and a soft, “undone” hairstyle.   Here, she portrays much more which suggests a new attitude to match: bold and dramatic.

In truth, everyone has an alter ego… it’s only a matter of time before it comes to light. Whatever the newly ventured look may be, it is the inevitable confidence and shift in attitude that lets the new style shine through.
